C-ARCHITECTURE specialises in all residential design from small renovations, to the summer bach to high-end bespoke homes.
Our Approach
At C-Architecture we create timeless, enduring design solutions that respond creatively and thoughtfully to a brief. We aim to design beautiful, efficient, and resilient spaces that enhance quality of life and add value to your property.
By basing ourselves in the communities of Piha and Whangamata, we're inspired by the raw and beautiful landscapes around us. The landscape and natural environment that our projects are set in are strong drivers of our design solutions; a careful consideration of topography, climate and sunlight help us create spaces that are adaptable, efficient and high performing in all seasons of the year. We endeavour to create spaces that feel like a natural extension of their environment
We embrace projects of all sizes and budgets. No matter how big or small, we offer creative solutions to your challenges, and our crafted designs lead to buildings that not only meet your immediate and future needs, but are also a joy to live in.
We prioritise quality and longevity in our designs. By selecting durable materials and sustainable building practices, we create enduring structures. Our focus on resilience also ensures your investment remains strong.
At the heart of our design philosophy is the belief that simplicity can deliver a profound impact. We take pride in creating buildings and spaces that, while not necessarily grand in size, are adaptable, flexible, high-performing and, most importantly, make everyday living both easy and a delight!

CAROLYN GUNDY Bachelor of Architecture ANZIA
I’m the founder of C-Architecture and I’m a registered Architect with 30 years of experience specialising in residential design, particularly in coastal locations. My home at Piha Beach allows me to both live and work in an ever-changing, inspiring atmosphere. More recently I have been operating my architectural studio in the picturesque setting of Whangamata Beach. I work between both of these amazing communities. And I have two wonderful teenage daughters that keep me busy.
As well as a love for all things architecture, I find joy in family and nature. Surfing is my passion and is a big part of my family life. I also love mountain bike riding and running in the bush. This physical connection with nature fuels my creativity and brings a unique perspective and insight to my architectural projects.
My approach to architecture is grounded in a commitment to creating simple, highly functional beautiful spaces that feel as good as they look through enhancing awareness and relationships with the landscape. I prioritise passive, sustainable and contextually sensitive design principles.
